Letter from the Principal

Hello, to all of our parents of Sumter High School.  We have enjoyed a very successful start to the 2012-2013 school year.  We are proud of our faculty and staff, which have successfully adjusted to the changes of the new administration, and continue to provide the excellent educational decisions necessary to empower our children for success.  The keys to our students future rest with our commitment as a staff, parents, and our community.  I am very excited by the commitment from our community for educating our children. As an educator in this state for the past 23 years I have always been impressed with the level of excellence Sumter High exudes in all of the areas of Academics, Athletics and the Arts.

It is my intention to continue to build upon the successful programs at our high school, while working diligently to improve all of our programs to reach new levels of excellence.  It is my vision, that Sumter High School functions as a student centered environment that provides an excellent education built upon relevance to learning, providing students with extra help, and focused intervention aimed at educational success for ALL students.

As a principal, I recognize that a school is only as powerful as the resources and commitment provided by the community of teachers, parents and partners that will invest in the success of its students. We invite you to attend our functions, volunteer your services, and support the mission of our school and our district.  We are committed to excellence and as always we are here to serve your needs.

Sterling Harris, Principal
