welcome to Sumter High School


School Information:

Due to the abundance of caution, Sumter School District will be closed on Monday, August 21, due to the solar eclipse.  All after school activities will also be cancelled.  The day will be made up with a half day of attendance for students on Friday, October 20, previously scheduled as an in-service day.  

The first day of school will now be Tuesday, August 22, and will be a full day.  

Employees will work on Monday from 8:00 – 11:30 am.

Normal School Day Hours – 8:40 am to 3:45 pm

First Day of School – TUESDAY, AUGUST 22nd and will be a full day.

Class Schedules:

Class Schedules are to be picked up in front of the guidance office from 9:00 – 11:30 am and 1:00 – 3:30 pm as follows:

  • Freshman & Sophomores Monday, August 14th
  • Juniors & Seniors Tuesday, August 15th

Class Fees:

  • Freshman $5.00
  • Sophomores $5.00
  • Juniors $10.00
  • Seniors $10.00

All class fees must be paid during the first two weeks of school.

Students or their parents must pay for lost or damaged textbooks from the past year before any additional textbooks can be issued.

Forms of payment accepted: cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or make checks payable to Sumter High School.  See Mrs. Hodge in the accounting office.

New Students:

  • Orientation for new freshman and 10th-12th graders new to SHS is Thursday, August 17th.
    • Students A-K  6:00 – 7:00 pm
    • Students L-Z   7:00 – 8:00 pm
  • All students new to SHS must have their Student ID cards made when they pick up their schedules (see times above).
