Congratulations to Theresa Bailey for being chosen as the Sumter High School Teacher of the Year 2020-2021 school year!
Theresa Bailey is a loving mom to her step son, Landon, who is a recent graduate from Sumter High School, and a wife of eight beautiful years to Curtis.
She has served 21 years in education in the state of South Carolina and has taught chemistry at Sumter High School for four years. She was a Chemist in industry when she received a blessing to teach and knew this was her passion from the first class that sat in front of her. She realizes each child has unique gifts and building relationships with her students is vital to their success. She also enjoys training new teachers and sharing education strategies with colleagues. She has served on several committees at the State Department of Education and is an advocate for K-12 education.
She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS in Chemistry and a Master of Education in Secondary Science.
One of her greatest accomplishments was being awarded the South Carolina Chemistry Teacher of the Year by the Southeastern division of the American Chemical Society.
Her favorite quote is by Mother Teresa, “I don’t do great things, I do lots of little things with great love.” She strives to live by spreading love everywhere she goes. Her desire is to not let others leave her presence without being happier.
