ABOUT US

Sumter High School helps all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing, facilitating, and designing rigorous academic programs, which include Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment (USC and Central Carolina), International Baccalaureate (IB), Foreign languages, and STEM courses. Each year the number of students enrolling in challenging, upper-level coursework increases. These academic programs have received local, national, and international recognition and awards. We continue the implementation of the AVID program, which emphasizes organizational and interpersonal skills, preparing students to be college and career ready upon graduation. Throughout each course and all learning opportunities, we focus on and strive to incorporate critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity to enhance each and every learning experience.
